I have all these things to show you but can't get the damn camera to work right. So ladies and gents, I'm going to buy a new camera and need your help. Any suggestions? I really like the digital SLR's but they're so expensive. Any ideas would be appreciated!

My BIL has this camera and it's amazing what it can do for the money. I want one for myself!
I will second Robin's suggestion, but would recommend getting the latest version. I own the Canon PowerShot S3 IS, but the newest version is the S5 IS. A very good digi-cam, and less complicated (and far less expensive) than a dSLR.
The digital camera I've had for eight millions years just decided to die. I replaced it with a Canon PowerShot SD870. Yum. I LOVE it. Since I hang onto little digital cameras for so long, I figured it was worth the $399.
